Jotech Red Oxide Primer
Red oxide primer is a specially formulated coating used as a base coat for ferrous metals. Red-oxide primer serves a similar purpose to interior wall primers in that it prepares your metal for a topcoat, but it also gives iron and steel surfaces a layer of protection. Working with red oxide primer is not difficult, but it helps to be aware of some safety precautions and application tips.
Uses:
Red Oxide Primer is a lead-free, oil-based, high-quality, rust-resistant primer ideal for use on metal surfaces such as aluminum, iron and steel.
Surface Preparation:
Before painting with red oxide primer, make sure all substrates are clean and free from grease or oil. Use a degreasing solution to remove these materials and allow the surface to dry. A clean surface ensures that the paint applied after the primer adheres properly. After cleaning, remove all loose and flaking material by scraping with a paint scraper, wire brush or by sanding. For some metals, flame cleaning or grit blasting may be necessary.
Application and Drying Time:
When applying red oxide primer, use a brush or a short pile roller. Use at least two coats of red oxide primer to provide an adequate base coat to your metal. Each coat will be dry to the touch in about 2 hours, but not fully cured for about 6 hours. Red oxide primer will not be ready for an overcoat until it dries for between 16 and 24 hours.
Precautions:
Red oxide primer, like other paints and coatings, should be used with standards and safe working practices in mind to avoid injury or hazards while handling. Red oxide primer is flammable, so keep it away from sources of ignition such as open flames and cigarettes. Before you begin working, ensure you have adequate ventilation. Either work outdoors, or open all windows in your work space and make use of exhaust fans. Wear a respirator or a painter’s mask to avoid breathing in vapors and spray. Safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing should also be worn. When you’re through painting, do not discard unused paint down drains or other water courses. Dispose of red oxide primer at your local hazardous waste depot.

Jotech Under Coat
A primer or undercoat is a preparatory coating put on materials before painting. Priming ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, increases paint durability, and provides additional protection for the material being painted.
Application Guide:
Many types of surfaces require an undercoat before the final coat of paint can be applied. Without an undercoat, paint may fall off or chip over time. Primer is another name for an undercoat, and there are many steps to applying it to make sure your paint will stick.
- Step 1: Sand your painting surface. Remove any old paint chips or rust with a scraper and fill any holes.
- Step 2: Clean your painting surface with a warm and soapy dish rag and allow the surface to dry.
- Step 3: After the surface has dried you can then apply an undercoat. If this coat dries thin or in a way that still reveals the surface underneath, apply a second coat and let it dry.
- Step 4: Apply the final coat of paint.
Surfaces That Require an Undercoat
An undercoat can be applied to any surface that needs to be painted, but it should not be used as the last coat. Surfaces like plastic and metal must have an undercoat or the paint will fall right off. Sometimes primer is used to cover a dark surface. For example, if the surface is black and you want to paint it white, the undercoat will help cover up the black so it doesn’t show through.

Jotech Enamel Paint
Enamel paint is a term that is used to reference paint with a hard, glossy and opaque finish. In actuality, the term “enamel paint” does not necessarily have a generally accepted or standardized definition, but historically, enamel paint has been used to refer to any type of enamel paint that is oil based and with a considerably glossy finish.
Enamel paints are characterized by their hard, washable and glossy finish and are available with heat resistant properties.
Enamels are available in a wide spectrum of colors and a number of sheens, including eggshell, low luster, satin, flat finish, gloss, semi gloss and high gloss, among others.
Jotech Semi-Gloss Paint
Painting your walls with a semi-gloss finish helps to brighten a room. Semi-gloss finishes are often applied to walls in kitchens and bathrooms, because they provide an easy-to-clean and durable surface. Painting a semi-gloss wall requires a process similar to that used with other paint finishes. However, because flaws in the walls may be more noticeable with semi-gloss coatings than with eggshell or flat paints, they require more preparation to ensure a smooth finish.
